police, swat police ended a standoff with a wanted man by using flash bang grenades. there you see windows were shattered at this home near holly park. the standoff involved the suspect accused of injuring a police officer by ramming a patrol car during a chase yesterday afternoon. police lost track of that man until someone called the police hours later. >> later that evening at about 8:30 p.m., police got a tip that the same suspect was in a residence on the 100 block of appleton. >> the standoff started about 10:45 and there you see police arrested the man. he had spent time in federal prison and has connections to gangs in san francisco. >>> san jose police were called out to a fire at a home where marijuana plants were found growing inside. the police did not issue any citations because they sate person at the home had a medical marijuana card and was growing the marijuana legally. he had about five or six plant that were found in the garage. it was a small fire. it did burn part of the garage though. firefighters were able to put it out and nobody was hurt. >> problems wit

spree. one police officer was wounded during the violence. alex savidge tells us one suspect is still on the loose. good morning, alex. >> san jose police need the public's help this morning to identify and capture that second man involved in this violent string of crimes. police say this pair of criminals shot and killed a driver. they were trying to carjack and you can take a look here and see a memorial is set up this morning with flowers and cards for the victim. identified as rory pediford. one arrest has been made. police believe he and accomplice committed four separate armories and opened fire on officers as they pursued. police have eventually returned fire wounding willbanks and in the end he was taken into custody. but police say willbank's accomplice got away during that shootout and a man hunt is on the way to find him. he is considered a serious threat to the public. san jose police offering a $10,000 reward for any information in this case. later on police will be holding a news conference to update the search in this investigation as they try to find again a second man

last night. ktvu's alex savidge joins us live to explain what caused the victim to go out in the dark. >> reporter: good morning. this man's body was recovered. it's believed he drowned. firefighters say he went out in the rain last night trying to find his lost cat and he ended up falling off this sleep cliff behind his house and he landed in the water. this is a water-filled rock quarry right below his home here. this is next to the rockridge shopping center. the oakland fire department launched a search around 7:00 last night after the man's friend reported him missing. rescuers used a boat. one rescue worker rappelled down the cliff. just before 1:00 this morning, they found the man's body about 30 feet under water. one of the drivers involved in this recovery operation explain how they locate a body in dark, murky water like this. >> we use a circle search where we set an anchor at the bottom and a buoy at the top. we have drivers stationed on the bottom and another diver that circles that anchor searching for our target. >> reporter: so far, authorities are not releasing the ide

in a fairfield neighborhood. ktvu claudine wong joins us from the wood lake park neighborhood with more on what neighbors are doing to help police track down the suspects. claudine. >> reporter: well, a handful of residents inside this neighborhood here in fairfield this is wood lake neighborhood have become the victims of mail thieves. they didn't take this lying down. they got together and set up operation mail thief. i want to show you video from their surveillance canal as. what they did is put up the red flags on the mailbox to let people know they had mail inside. this is what they caught two people a man and woman driving top the mailboxes and taking out the mail. they said they were not happy with what they saw. >> they may not have come into our house, but they attacked a portion of our house. and we feel violated. >> reporter: they felt violated but now they are also empowered with this video. it's not clear enough to give them a license plate on that vehicle, but police are describing it as a newer model four-door gray nissan ultima or max ma. he is described as a white man light ski

the first of two systems. >> and in case you are just joining us this bay bridge drive is terrible. why we have very long lines coming up to the toll plaza. mornings on 2 starts now. >> complete bay area news coverage starts right now. this is ktvu mornings on 2. >> good morning. welcome. >> it's friday november 16th. topping our news a brutal assault and kidnapping of a 65- year-old woman. the suspect is a 14-year-old. we are in vallejo where we have been following this developing story since 4:30. >> reporter: good morning. police are planning on holding a press conference later this morning where we expect to learn more details but here is what we know. this all started here, this is the plaza shopping center. it's a fairly big shopping center. the woman was coming out of one of the stores when police say she was kidnapped at gun point. according to police she was forced in to her own car and forced to drive this area. she was then the victim of a physical and sexual assault. the victim was left unconscious and duct taped in a ditch and the suspect fled in her car. passerbies noticed
